The PRSSA chapter at The University of Memphis has won the bid to host international conference in Nashville

Memphis, Tenn. — The University of Memphis Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) has won the host bid for the 2023 International Conference, securing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for students.

The PRSSA International Conference will take place Oct. 13 - 16 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The annual event provides a space for hundreds of professionals and students to network, share insights, and develop their careers in PR.

Oakley Weddle, Conference Coordinator and Chapter President, expressed excitement and confidence in the chapter's ability to host a memorable and impactful conference. “Winning the host bid is a major accomplishment, and I am eager to put our chapter's best foot forward in delivering a conference that will elevate the future of PR professionals and The University of Memphis,” Weddle said.

The UofM PRSSA Chapter worked diligently on its bid, supported by students, faculty, and leadership from the university. Bill Hardgrave, President of The University of Memphis, extended his congratulations to the chapter. "As one of the most involved and fastest-growing student organizations on our campus, I have full confidence that UofM PRSSA will exceed the expectations that come with putting on such a prestigious event," Hardgrave said.

The PRSSA committee, responsible for planning the international conference, includes undergraduate and graduate students studying public relations and integrated strategic media. Conference Coordinator Oakley Weddle, Programs Director Angel-Williams Federick, Logistics Director Kirsten Desiderio, and Communications Director Taylor Ann Carpenter will lead the committee. Kim Marks Malone, APR, Fellow PRSA, is the Chapter’s faculty adviser and Kinnawa Kaitibi of local PR agency KQ Communications is the professional adviser.
